Architecture in rest of Romania

Work in progress

  • This is (and probably always be) work in progress.
  • A few things on to-do list that need and will get immediate attention
    • Add photos and links to blog posts for the identified pictures
    • Work on adding much more buildings in key areas Ploiești, Constanța, Iași etc.)
  • How is one supposed to read this map?
    • Color coding points to a specific decade (e.g. yellow is 1931-1940, orange is 1921-1930 etc.)
    • I am color blind so at some point I start mixing colors.
    • The icon shows the style: neo-Romanian, Eclectic, Art Nouveau, Modernist, Brutalist, Realist Socialist, Mussolinian/Fascist etc.
    • The acronym is an abbreviation of the architect name. This normally has more meaning to me than it does to you, even though after an extensive use of the map, you may get used to this. E.g. PA = Petre Antonescu, HCng = Horia Creangă, NGB = Nicolae Ghika-Budești.
